Helpful tips when buying a Painting

To avoid the time consuming process of Real Authentic Art, more and more people are now using the Popular Artificial Intelligence (Ai) and Photoshop to create art. Ai-generated art is made by entering a text prompt and allowing a computer to create an image based on the description. This can be done by anyone and takes seconds to create. Well, its okay to sell Ai or photoshopped art to someone if they are aware that they are buying Computer generated art, However, it immediately becomes a dishonest scheme if you tell a potential buyer its an Original painting.

Above is an Ai computer generated picture created by an unknown person.

This was created with a click of a button and took less than 10 seconds to create.

It can literally be done by anyone.

Above is one of my Original Paintings. It was done the old-school and traditional way. It is 100% hand painted with acrylic paint on canvas. This painting took about 4 Weeks to complete.

So what is an Original Painting ?

At its essence, an original painting is produced by an artist’s hand. This definition excludes computer generated (Ai Art), canvas prints, and other reproductions. An original painting must be produced by hand, by the original authentic artist. Original works from the artists own hand are always more valuable and desirable and can be displayed in your home or office with pride.

Original art collecting can be fun and a great hobby to get the whole family involved in over the years. A great investment to bring warmth and color to your home, and if you buy from the right hard working, desirable and prolific artists, you can watch your investment grow while enjoying the art with friends and family on a daily basis.

The reasons why original art is more expensive than mass-produced pieces are mainly the huge amount of time and effort the artist spent to create the piece, its scarcity and the unique quality of an original artwork that a machine will never be able to imitate.

So how do i tell if a Painting is fake?

If the Artist cannot provide progress shots. If you never see behind the scene or (work in progress) photos on the artist's website, the work he/she creates is more than likely computer generated and then printed onto a canvas. Computer generated art printed on canvas is usually highly detailed and has a smooth feel to it with no texture or brush strokes.

If you're a seasoned art collector or a new art lover, it is important to ask the artist how the painting you’re about to purchase was created. You want to be sure that you’re buying an Original hand painted piece and not a Computer Generated or Photoshopped picture printed onto a canvas.

A few questions won’t hurt. Most artist's would be happy to answer. If you already purchased a painting from an artist and is not sure if the painting is real or fake, its best to get it examined by an expert or art dealer.
